Books, books and more books!!

October 28, 2013
Hi again!
Today while I was cleaning around the house or playing with a sibling I keep on thinking about the book I was reading at the moment and how I can't wait to open it up again this evening! The smell of the old book, the fabric feeling of the paper and the thickness of the book are my favorite things. But, wait! I didn't tell you the best part! Words! Precious words that just flow on the paper. I was thinking today that there really are not that many good books now-a-days. I often struggle with finding good wholesome books. Because of that I usually read really old books, and more often then not the books are really good! I've tried many newer books and sometimes they are pretty good, but often they had no story line or they were not as enjoyable as The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne or the Laura Ingalls Wilder series!

Books! ♥
Actually today we are going to the library! I am going to pick up the book "I am David' today.  Have you ever read or watched the movie "I am David?' If so, let me know what you thought. I am going to do a book review on it after I read it, for those who have never read or watched it before. Oh my! I am so excited to get new books and to slip into the exciting world of READING!

 Reading with you,
  Julia Ryan♥

  1. I read the book "I am David" but I have not seen the movie. The book was very good! It is worth your read, but be prepared to actually feel and live right along with the character! I have not seen the movie, and I don't know anyone who has, but I looked it up and as far as I recall, it doesn't have anything "bad" in it, like swearing, etc. Ps. I LOVE old books!!! I will go to the library and find the farthest back section that no one else ever goes to. I once found this really, really cool book that was all speeches. It was written in the early 1900s, and it had speeches from the Bible, and from Greeks and Romans, and Europeans, and speeches by army generals, and stuff. And before and after each speech it had a little information about what was going on at that time and stuff. There was one series of speeches done by men that I had never heard of during Roman times, and I felt like I was living the story! They were on separate sides of this rebellion, and the moving talks that they gave to both gain troops and encourage them was amazing. I felt like I could see them standing there, and as if I could feel the crowd changing to be with them. Ah.. =) Anyway, sorry for making this comment as long as a post itself! Haha. God bless, Jessica (homeschooledsuthor.blogspot.com)

    1. Jessica,
I know what you mean! "I am David" pulls you into the character like no other book! It is amazing. Oh my! Your library sounds like one I would enjoy greatly. :) I once got a book that had all of the letters Theodore Roosevelt sent to his kids in his whole life. It was amazing and huge! :D I understand what you mean though, the really old books can make you feel like you are there living life with them.
