Amazon jungle of stuff

January 29, 2015

I need your help. For Christmas I got a gift card to Amazon and if you've ever shopped on Amazon, you know my problem. There are so many things! I also can't bring myself to spend so much money on something I could possibly find at a thrift shop! Yup..this is my problem...what would you do?!

These two things are what I am going between..and there were so many things I had to rule out! But, now I come to you..my fellow bloggers and dear friends. I have been wanting a cute purse for a long time, but haven't found any at our local thrift shops. I also wanted some boots like above. Then this Fall I found some that were very alike, but they had two inch wedges which I really didn't feel comfortable wearing..so, my older sister uses them often. ;) I also thought I could purchase a set of books with my gift card but couldn't think of any series I really wanted at the moment...do you have any book recommendations?

Which do you prefer and for what reasons? Have you ever bought anything off of Amazon and then walked into your Goodwill to find it for a fraction of the price?

  1. If it were me, I would choose the books, the boots, and the purse in that order I'd want the most to least want (that wording sounds strange...). But that may be only because I have so many bags! Well, whatever it is you choose, it will be a good choice. And as for book recommendations... It depends on what sort of books you like. :)

    xoxo Morning

    1. Yeah...I only have one purse and it is getting rather old. ;) Well! I'd love to start reading a few more books out of my normal genre. I usually read historical fiction, biography's, and any good Christian book out there. What type do you like? :)

  2. Hello, Julia! I think I vote the purse - only because it's a tad risky to buy boots offline. ;) Oh gosh! You should totally get The first two books in the Men of Grit series by John J. Horn - they are surprisingly inexpensive right now! Let me know what you end up getting! :)

    1. I know! That was the saddest thing for me. I would have so said "boots!" but...they are so often not good quality.. :P Maybe I will! I got those links you sent me last night. Thanks so much for those! I will also write back you via email soon. :D

    2. I know... I found some nice cowboy boots on Amazon that I wanted to ask for but then someone told me that it's better to buy those types of things in-store. :P But eBay tends to have some better quality items! :) Maybe you could check there for boots!

Awesome! If you get the first two books in the series, be sure to let me know - they're so great! You're welcome! I was happy to send them to you. :) Okay, fantastic!

    3. Yeah, I did look on there, but sadly, Amazon is where I have the money. ;) Okay, I will! Thanks!

  3. Haha, I do know your problem. ;) lol

I personally would go for the boots... I think a cute purse would be easier to find at a thrift store then nice boots.

Have you thought of checking for a purse at a place like Target??

    1. Phew..I'm glad it's not only me! ;) That is true! It also depends on where the thrift store is located. We go to quite a few, and the ones in the richer areas of town have a lot more clothes, etc. Do you have a nice thrift shop? I have not...but, I really only have money for Amazon right now. Maybe in the future I'll check there! Thanks!!

    2. I am agreeing with Eden -- way easier to find a purse at a thrift store and I have heard that shoes conform to a person's feet and therefore we shouldn't wear used shoes if possible. I know there are situations where it is needed...

    3. Oh really? I never thought of that! I can see that as being very true. :) Thanks for that tip!

  4. That bag is really nice, but so are the boots! I see the problem. If you want a series recommendation, I'm currently working my way through a fantasy series called Stravaganza, you might like them. I'm enjoying them a lot!

    1. Haha! Those are my feelings EXACTLY! :D Oh, those sound neat! Have you ever read any books from the Voice of the Martyrs? I just recently found two books by them and was able to buy them..they are SO good! I got "Hearts on Fire" and "Sister Freaks". I know, strange titles..but, oh, so amazing books! I also got "The Hiding Place" by Corrie ten Boom. You should read that! :)

  5. I love the bag! The boots are gorgeous too though! Some books that I absolutely love are The Secret Life of Bees, The Help, Princess Academy, Brown Girl Dreaming, Between Shades of Gray, My Louisiana Sky, Matched, and The Book Thief. I've also been enjoying The Lunar Chronicles. The books in the series retells the stories of popular fairy tales in a futuristic exciting way. I love that series sooo much! Sorry for rambling on about books. I guess I can get a little carried away when recommending books. ;)

  9. *gasp* they both look so good. Hmm I would probably go with a purse, but that's probably because I just bought a pair of boots. They both look reallly good though!

  10. Ack!!! Such a hard choice .. . um . . . eeny, meenie, miny, moe? Let's see here . . . I vote the bag. I think you can use it longer than you can the boots, although they're both so cute!

    3. Oh my..that could be dangerous. lol!! :D What if I bought something totally expensive without looking?! :D

  11. I love them both but I would go with the bag because you could use it all the time:)

  12. Oh, that's a hard choice! I really like the boots, but with spring and summer on the way you probably wouldn't be able to get as much use out of them as you would the purse. Both are cute though!
Have you read any books by G. A. Henty? He wrote a ton of really good historical novels. R. M. Ballantyne did as well, they are both really good authors. Hope this helps!
