Throwback Tuesday

March 23, 2015

Throwback Tuesday...featuring me three years ago. Yes..my hair was that long for a few years. I actually didn't cut it shorter until last year (haha.. I guess it took a while to convince me!) after I realized I couldn't do another hot Summer with extra long hair. So.. I talked it over a bit and got the courage up to ask my Mom to get the scissors and cut it.

SNIP!

And it was gone. I didn't cry. Well, my eyes misted, but that isn't the same. lol!

Let me tell you..there is nothing like the feeling of freshly cut hair. It took a long time for me to get used to the notion of it not being there though. I kept on worrying that I would sit on my hair..when it wasn't there. I would grab my hair to twist it up into a bun, but couldn't because it. wasn't. there! I told my grandma that I cut my hair and she couldn't believe it. I knew the feeling.. haha!

I have styled my hair a bit since I cut it a few years back. I have tried different lengths. I even almost got bangs! (Here is the post on that) I thought about dying it red with henna. I actually got a herbal hair mix for Christmas that has a little bit of henna in it to enhance my hair color (that will be a future blog post in May sometime).  I guess I just can't leave my hair alone.

But, you know what? It is fun!!

What have you done with your hair?
Do you like your hair long - or short?
What do you think of my hair when it was that long?

  1. My hair has been from short to long. I also have side bangs, but only because it helps frame my face (gosh, I sound so vain... DX) I like having my hair a bit medium sized-- long enough to be managed, but short enough to not be a problem. Your hair looks pretty, long, though! My hair is black, so mainly whatever I try to do to style my hair it doesn't look as nice as people with a lighter hair color.

    1. Oh no, you don't sound vain! You sound beautiful! :) I agree..medium length is very easy to wash and style. Aww, thanks! My older sister has dark brown hair and she always complains about that too..but I've always wished for darker hair..so. :)

  2. I think I like my hair longer/medium in length. I used to have it longer (a few inches past my shoulders) and I got it cut really short a few years ago. I liked having it short for a while, and I even got side bangs, but I'm happy to have it growing out again! I still have side bangs, however, and I think I'll keep bangs for a long while. ;) I'm kind of wanting to do something fun with it though! :D I've thought about changing my hair color too! I think sometime I'll do it. ;)

    1. I know what you mean! I got some layer cut in my hair last Summer and they are still growing out..uhg, it takes forever! I'd love to see a recent picture of you with your side bangs. :) We will have to talk more about hair colors! :D And if my hair dye works out..maybe it will work for you. :)

  3. I once had long hair like that, then when I was 10 I got it cut very short indeed and it's still growing back..
Strange really for I'd love to have a pixie cut but dont have the guts to do so.. hmm I love long hair in winter but in summer its a pain in the neck! :-)

    1. Wow, that must have been a huge change! When I cut mine a bit shorter I think we did 6 inches off..so it was still fairly long. I have seen a lot of pixie cuts and I like them on some people, but on others it makes them look really little.. I always hate not knowing what a hair cut will do to you until you try it! :P Haha, us girls and our hair. ;)

  4. How awesome! I prefer my hair to be long. I got it cut short several times but I have extremely thick hair so it looked a little strange. I think your hair was beautiful when it was long but I love your shorter hair too! I've heard about henna dye (sounds amazing). If you do it, make sure to share the results. I'd love to see it!

    1. My younger sister has such thick hair so I know what you are talking about. :P It is very hard to do anything with it..do you have the same problem? Aww, thanks, you are sweet! I love your hair too! Okay, will do! I think that my sister and I will dye my hair sometime in early Summer, so be on the watch for a post. :)

  5. I love long hair but there's also something extremely exciting about cutting off my hair once it gets really long. The last time I cut my hair I donated twelve inches of it to locks for love. It felt like I was ten times lighter, almost like I was a different person. :)

I've had short haircuts in the past and I always like them but I inevitably start missing my long hair once it's gone. Also, I don't like the tedious process of growing my hair out. It's so hard to get it to look good when it's in that awkward inbetween stage.

Your hair looks very lovely long! But I am sure that it looks just as beautiful any length. :)

    1. That is true! Wow..that is awesome! My sister did the same thing..but when I cut mine I only did about 6-7 inches.. I wasn't ready for 12 inches off. :) Haha, I always cut it right when it gets in the in between stage. :P I finally decided to let it grow a bit more, then do something totally different. :) Thanks..you are really sweet! ♥

  6. Your hair is SO pretty!!!! I did the same thing! My hair was almost to my waist, but then summer came along and SNIP.... I got it cut up to my shoulders! I was awful....if I would have left it my hair would be so long now! Oh well!
P.S I still think that you should get bangs!<3

  7. I know what you mean, I'm so bored with my hair! I'm thinking about maybe dying it plumb or red, or maybe a blond brown. What do you think?
I think I like your hair shorter, it's so pretty and looks like it has a tendency to curl :)

    1. Ohh, wow! Dying it a totally different color can be challenging. :) I think a blond brown would be pretty. :) It does! I love how it will naturally curl now..especially if I put a bit of product in it when it is wet. :)

  8. My hair is long so I have to put it up in a bun on top of my head most days in summer, otherwise it is just too hot.... I still haven't convinced myself I should cut it..... haven't for years....

    1. I love long hair!! :) I did that this summer too. :) Sometimes buns aren't the most stylish thing..but they sure are practical. Maybe you should try something different? :)

  10. Awesome post! I have a long hair. ( Well, not as long as you did in the picture ) My sister has actually been trying to talk me into getting a hair cut but I just can't do it. It's been pretty much the same length for a long time and I'm just gotten used to it and I also like the length it is. You were very brave to cut your hair! I actually never done anything to my hair except for a trim. You're hair looks great though!

    1. I love your long hair!! :) You might want to get a little trim..it helps a lot during the Summer and it boosts your hair growth! :) Hahaa, I took at least two months to get the courage up. :D Thanks :)

  11. Wow! Your hair was so long. You suit the short hair though.
I used to have a really short bob, but then a few months ago I started growing it. It seems to be taking forever!

    1. Aww, thanks, Sophie! I like the shorter hair too. :) I have never had my hair that short..except when I was really little, but it was shoulder length then. :) I know what you mean! :D

  12. I'm trying to grow my hair long right now!! I got a big trim about 5 months ago. It's very fine so it breaks easily and can get pretty frizzy looking, though that doesn't bother me now as much as it used to. Back in 2008 I went from having hair a few inches past my shoulders to a pixie cut just because I wanted to try it out! I pretty much started growing it back out right from that point. It's been just above my waist at the longest and that's pretty much the goal is to have it waist length again.
