Oceans // New journal

September 7, 2015
See my new backpack there?!?! I LOVE THAT THING! :D
I love keeping a journal. It's a joy to sit down and pen down my day, feelings, adventures, and dreams in it. I've actually kept a journal since I was 7 years old! My first one was a Strawberry Shortcake theme and it even had a strawberry lock. And, that lock that I thought was so safe..well, I found out you can open it with a bobby pin. Lovely, eh? Since that first little book (and yes I still have it! Boy..my handwriting though. lol!) I have always spent at least 3 nights a week journaling. I even went through a summer where I wrote EVERY NIGHT. I started to run out of things to talk about though so those entries didn't count for much. ;) Last night, I finished my last page in my latest journal.. I had it for over 2 years. Each page is full (I'm guessing there are nearly 200-250 pages) of such crazy stuff! If you go up to the top picture you will see my NEW journal! It is on the far right and says "SKETCH" on it. ;) Isn't adorable?!

I also learned how to play a new song a few days ago! I was so excited to actually find a song that I was able to play that wasn't over my level. Here is the link to the AMAZING band who plays it-- Oceans (Where Feet may Fail). Tell me what you think below! Oh, and I got to drive again today. It went really good! I'm glad to stay on the dirt roads though. ;) Drivers ed is in less than a month! You'll be hearing about that for a while..haha! Hopefully I'll have some funny stories for you all. :D
School is awesome, as usual! Geometry isn't as bad as I was imagining it to be.. oh the binds my imagination gets me in. ;)

Do you journal?
Do you like music videos??
Have you ever heard of Hillsong United?

  1. I love Oceans; I talked about it on my blog too--specifically, the cover by the Gardiner Sisters.

Awesome that school is going so well! Aw, I really hope I can get back into practicing driving--I broke my glasses so I haven't been able to for a while :(

    1. Oh that's awesome! It's my top favorite song right now. ;) I change so often though, but I will always love it. :D

Gosh, that stinks!!! Hopefully you'll be able to get them repaired quickly. :) How is school going for you??

  2. Ooooooh I love to journal! I've recently gotten in the habit these last two years and have already filled two books!
It's so much fun! Oh and Hillsong! Yes! xD Have you heard It's Christmas? I just love singing that at Church Camp. It's by Hillsong too!

    1. Awesome, I am so glad to find a fellow journaler! ;) Isn't it fun to pick out fancy journals??? Are you the leather type? They are so expensive.. :P I haven't, but I will listen to it!! Thanks! :)

    2. Likewise!! :-D Yes yes it is! I love picking out new ones! I cannot choose sometimes though, and coughendupbuyingtwocough. I haven't got a leather one yet, they are indeed so expensive. I'm thinking of getting a leather one for some big event or something, i.e before my wedding (if I'm still journaling then)
Hope you enjoy the song! Do tell me what you think? :-)

    3. Haha! I know!! I am always fingering the lovely covers and eyeing the colorful designs. I had a black one for 2 years and so I wanted something totally different this this time. And.. lines are a big NO NO for me. What about you? :) I love to be free. ;) Ohh, that's sweet! I think it would be cool to have a journal that you start after your marriage. :) Have you ever read Stepping Heavenward? That's kind of similar. :)
Oh, I love this song! I have heard it on the radio around Christmas time before.. I think it is a new song because I don't recall it before last year. I miss Taya Smith as the lead singer though.. ;)

    4. Yes! I love all the designs!! :-D and haha I need lines or else my writing goes insanely messy but I suppose that's part of the charm I geuss. No I haven't read the book it looks goodish though, so it's on my to read list.
Yes, I think it is! and mmhmm me too!

    5. I seriously can't figure out how they come up with so many designs! :D They make a million on people like us. ;) Haha, I actually am more messy with lines because I feel like they will make everything clean so I write fast.. :P Oh it's a really good read! Even if you don't read the whole thing, you will enjoy the part that you did and you won't forget it. It is one of those types. ;) I know, Taya Smith is amazing!!

  3. OCEANS OCEANS OCEANS. Okay, I will have to confess that I am pretty much dumb when it comes to Christian music, up until in June, where I had to learn the song Oceans (and nine other songs, like "Lord, I Need You") and oh my goodness, I fell in love with all of these songs instantaneously. Reading through old journals are such a treat (but can be shocking); I've read through one from five years ago, and can I just say: I was pretty angsty for my age back then! >.<

    xoxo Morning

    1. I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW. I used to be, but once I started watching music videos by some of my favorite band s and then watching ones related to that band and so on, I grew a ton in my band knowledge. :) Oh how fun! I want to learn those songs!! I'm going to go find a tutorial now. :D lol, I know what you mean. I try not to write when mad because I know I will regret those words..

P.S. ISN'T IT AMAZING?! I got to buy it with my summer reading prize money. :)

  5. I love journaling! I have to get in the habit of writing daily, though. I have had about 10 different journals since I was 6 years old. I don't fill up the pages, I just find a cuter one. ;) Do you have any tips to remembering to write? :) How long does it take you to do your schoolwork? It takes me about three hours.

    1. Haha! That is one of my little pet peeves; unfinished journals. I've seriously finished every one of mine. It's kind of like a goal. :) I love cute ones though! Hmm.. I don't know. Every night I sit down and read out of my Bible, and then I grab my journal daily Q.A book I got from a friend for my birthday, and then if the day was eventful enough, I also write in my journal. Then I get in bed and read out of my book. ;) I'm a weird schedule person.. haha!! Hmm..well, anywhere between 3-5 hours. :) Good job!

  6. I love journaling too! Sometimes I can forget to do it. ;P I fill up a notebook in about hmm....3-6 months maybe, if I write everyday! I get cute little notebooks from the dollar tree usually. :)

    1. Haha, I used to be that way, but now I have my own bedroom so I keep my journal in a pretty open spot so I will see it. My motto is "Out of sight, out of mind" so if I don't see it, I won't remember. ;) Thanks!

  7. I don't really have a journal anymore and you know why - hehee - "someone" used to read it all the time. You were such a little stinker. ;)

    Love you sis,

    1. It is almost an hour away, it was actually out the hospital window where my grandma is right now.. I thought it had a neat feel to it though, so I added it to this post. The city is actually WAY bigger. That was just downtown. :) That's great! Do you have tons? :D

    2. Cool, that's neat! Yeah, I have lots of journals too, lol!

  9. That's great geometry is going well! Yes, our imaginings. ;) Oh, Driver's Ed! Fun! I want to take Driver's Ed too. :) Hopefully next year in the spring (maaaaaybe...). ;) Yup! Oceans is a good song. I went to a Winter Jam concert last year and Hillsong was there! They were great. :D

    2. Well, I actually haven't even started this year yet! I will be soon, but we only got done in late July/early August with last year's school, so we took some time off and went on a road trip to visit my grandparents in Iowa! That was fun. :) So, I'll let'cha know how geometry goes when I start. ;) Oh, gosh...I'm sure you'll do fine in Drivers Ed! Just stay calm. ;D

Winter Jam was so good! We're going again this year. :D Here's a link to their website: http://2015.jamtour.com/shows - I'm not sure if that's all the shows they'll be doing, since the tour normally extends into the early new-year. :) You should see if they're coming to where you live! Tickets are only $10 per person (At the door - there are no pre-buy tickets, so seating is - scarily ;) - first come first serve)

    3. Oh that sounds like fun! Haha I'll be looking forward to what you think of geometry. Personally, I find it droll. lol! I'll try to stay calm. ;) Thanks for the link! It looks pretty cool. :D I've heard of the winter jam before. I love all of the Christian bands! Which is your favorite? :)

      Delete
    4. My favorite band? Aaah! I couldn't choose! ;) There are so many bands I enjoy listening too... :D A current favorite is Among the Thirsty. Out of the bands got to be at Winter Jam this year, For King & Country is one of my favorites. :) What Christian band is your favorite? Do you like for King & Country? What about Among the Thirsty? Ooh! Or Casey Darnell? ;D

      Delete
    5. Oh boy, I have no idea! But I actually prefer like one singer "bands" like Josh Wilson, Matthew West, and Lauren Diagle. I do like For King & Country! And I don't remember Among the Thirsty... but I did look up Casey Darnell! I like his lyrics a ton! :D

    6. Fellow For King & Country-er here!! :D Not one person I know in the real world likes them, what a shame. :'(

  11. That is so cool that you can play Oceans on piano!! I love Christian music and always want to play every song I hear on the piano, but I stink at it. ;)
Are you into any other Christian bands? I love For King & Country, the Newsboys (more the old Newsboys than the new one) and Avalon. :)
And about the journal thing....I keep a journal all the time, and every year I try to keep a special "summer journal" where I write about stuff that happens to me during the summer. But the journal I bought this year was COLLEGE RULED! (And I didn't realize till weeks after I bought it!!) All those lines all squished together....bleh. So I still wrote in it, but not as much as I would have with a wide ruled journal.
    Live and learn. :)

    1. Yay! Another girl like me! :D I am the same way, but then I have to sing, and I feel like I sound bad.. :P lol! Oh my yes! I simply love so many I couldn't list them! I listen to a lot during the day, but I really like Josh Wilson, Lauren Diagle, Brandon Heath, and Newsboys. I agree! Their older songs were much better..like Your Love Never Fails. Gosh that song was a huge hit and still is in my opinion! :D
Hahaa, I actually love college ruled, but in a journal.. blah! I prefer blank pages in my journals. :D I feel so much more imaginative. ;) I love your summer journal idea. :D

    2. I thought I replied to this the other day. Oh well, I guess I forgot to hit publish. :P
      Anyway...
Haha, I know, I get the same way!! I like to sing (sometimes....) but I don't want to because I don't think I sound great. :P
Me too! It's really all I listen to all day!! And Josh Wilson, YES!!! I love him! I feel like he doesn't get a lot of attention in the Christian music world, which is a shame.
I love Brandon Heath's song Jesus in Disguise. :) What songs do you like by him? I don't know too many.
Yay!! I'm glad you agree with me.... it seems like most people prefer the new stuff. Your Love Never Fails is good! And it was a hit, but I think God's Not Dead (another great song!) was an even bigger hit! I think two of my favorite Newsboys songs are He Reigns and It Is You (a really old one.....). Do you have any favorites by the Newsboys?
Yeah, I guess college ruled is alright sometimes, but in a journal, no way! Blank pages are cool, and I can see why you'd prefer them, but I don't think I'd like them in a journal.... my writing always goes uphill without lines. :P
Aw, thanks! I'm glad you like it! It's pretty fun. :)
