how i lost 7 pounds // join me, will you?

June 6, 2016
Today is officially 13 days of no sugar.  I honestly only had a few times when I had a strong urge to pick up that cookie dough and shove it down my throat without a second thought. But no. Going without sugar didn't kill me - in fact I'm way healthier. I lost 7 pounds. SEVEN STINKING POUNDS. I didn't want this to become some expensive diet, so I stuck with what I had;

-frozen blueberries. Ladies, THIS IS AN AMAZING SUBSTITUTE FOR ICE CREAM
-eggs. Eggs for breakfast. Eggs for lunch. Eggs for a snack, eggs for dessert. just eggs
-WATER. Being addicted to sugar is stupid, but being addicted to water? do it.
-fruit. I cannot stress the fact enough that you NEED TO EAT FRUIT during this challenge. It's like sugar but not.
-potatoes. baked potatoes. mashed potatoes. potato salad. potato fries. potatoes..potatoes.. just eat the potato, okay?
-POPCORN. preferably not out of a microwave bag.. like ewww.

I'm going two weeks without sugar again (though, I will be taking Saturday's off to splurge hehee) -- so WHO thinks that you will do it with me?! You know, accountability buddies. I've set up a page with all sort of tips (loooook up! ^^) on going sugarless. It's a breeze - join me, will you??

*UPDATE* this starts June 8-10th. Your two weeks will begin on the day that YOU sign up!

will YOU beat the sugar????

  2. This is so awesome! I need to do it! But really.......my ice cream!!??? Salads for lunch with turkey burgers and feta cheese are the best! I kept eating microwave lunches and that junk, but once I even switched to that I felt a difference! I need to drink a ton more water too. I slack way too much there....like two glasses a day........yeah, not good.

    1. Bess - it is impossible that you could love ice cream more than I..and I did it! LOL! You could totally make frozen yogurt too. It's fantabulous - oh, and frozen blueberries too. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love salad..and turkey burgers..and feta cheese! MY KINDA LUNCH. Tsk tsk! ;) Okay, I was really bad before too. I would go all day and be like "oh. did I drink water?" It wasn't good at all... now I'm a water believer xD

  4. Another two weeks?! Go you!! :D And congratulations on losing weight too! Did you do extra exercise or was it just the change of diet? Your tips page is very good too. I especially agree with not looking at food boards on Pinterest (although I'm very guilty - there's some open in my tabs right now).

And... I'm going to join you! Seriously though, I haven't been having sugar these last few weeks either, but I splurged last weekend (cake and ice cream; it was nice :P), and I really noticed how much worse it made me feel. It surprised me, but yes - I think I'm better off without any sugar at the moment. And it will be easier as well, knowing there are others out there doing the same, even if you are all on the other side of the world. :)

    1. I know - I'm crazy huh?! I tried to eat something sweet last night and it was like EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. though.. I do want some lemonade.. like NOW. XD I actually didn't do any sort of extra exercise, though I was NOT sitting around. I was swimming, painting my bedroom, mowing the lawn, taking short walks, running errands, tilling the garden, weed whacking the yard..so I guess in sorts, I was. lol!! MMMMM. I love my food boards.

YOU ARE?!!?! Like really??! YIPPIE!! I feel like I should have made a set day..maybe I'll go into my post and edit that? yes? I know. I just showed you above how active I was, and I normally am that active - BUT. I FELT SO MUCH STRONGER. I wasn't as tired nor did I get sick as quickly as the rest of my family did. Though.. I do have the cold now. :P YES YES YES! I don't care if you're in outer space - I'm so happy to have you with me (us) Jessica! <3

  5. Cool! This sounds like I a really healthy thing. I am going away for 2 weeks so we'll be living off a lot of junk food for a while, else I would totally join in.

Also, you always have to be careful when you are losing weight rapidly. Sometimes it will come right back and other times its just a lot of stress on the body to lose so much at once. Be careful and good luck!

    1. lol!! That is SO HOW trips are, huh? :P It's like, okay, you've got to either drive or fly wherever you are going, and you obviously have to rely on other resources for food. Then you get to said place, and once again are usually going places, so stopping for food is the only option. It just happens :P

Oh, that's a really interesting thought!! Thanks for telling me. Honestly, I really hope I don't gain it back *laughs*

  8. OKAY LET'S DO THIS. I'm with you on this one! I actually just tried for the past three days to go sugar free to see if I could do it, and surprisingly, I actually haven't eated any sugar these past few days. (EXCEPT like five minutes ago i was like, "You know what if I'm going to do the challenge I may as well eat ONE sweet. I ate a Kind bar, so, actually it's not too bad. They only have 5g of sugar per bar and taste like bliss <3) ANYWAY so is there like an official start date and do we just like stop eating sugar? I'M READY FOR THIS. =)

    1. OH YEAH!!! Hey, now you're smart. xP I literally roped myself into a small dare of sorts AND THIS HAPPENED. I really need to thank my bestie. xD HAHAA!! See, you really ARE SMART. I hope you enjoyed that bar ;) I said the official date is any day between the 8th (TODAY) and the 10th. But literally, if anyone wants to start after that, I'm TOTALLY fine with that. Yeah, try to focus on drinking water, eating healthy, and completely staying away from sugars. I said 2 T of sugar per serving of anything is a NO NO - but I tried to stay away from it 100%. I'M READY - again. :D

I've actually lived off of a diet of eggs and blueberries while staying at my uncle's house in Atlanta! I have no idea how I survived (probably I was too busy laughing at various AFV clips...)! XD

    2. I was joking around with my sister about doing this, and now I think she's roped me into *seriously* doing this, because my mom thought the idea of us doing it was laughable (yeah, my sister is going to do this because of a dare just like you, and she controls me and can make me do anything she likes. I'm doomed.). What have I done?!?!?!?! Do you really think that you'll be doing this again? Do you have a starting date for next time? She wants to start then, if you do. I'm just frantically thinking that we better have a lot of popcorn in the house come this time, because if we don't, I'm gonna die. I get so hungry come 3:00 in the afternoon unless we have something big like sandwiches or wraps with sides for lunch, and if I don't eat at that 3:00 mark, I eat the house out come 5:00, sugar or no. I'm not ready for this. Good thing I have a while to get used to it...

  21. I've kind of been trying to do this too. I eat eggs for breakfast EVERY DAY and try to drink lots of water, except I'm kind of failing at that of late, and I try to stay away from carbs. I definitely sit around too much though. It's difficult for me to eat way healthy because my family is like, "you don't need to worry about that! You're young!" But I really do want to get rid of my obvious muffin top...so it's weird situation. I do eat much healthier than I used to, but recently, I haven't been as disciplined. Sunday is my off-day, because, well, it's Sunday! Also, it's hard to find the balance between seriousl trying to lose weight, and not making it an idle. Something I've been wrestling with. Anywho, congrats on losing 7 pounds! Woot!

    1. wooah, good job! Honestly, eating healthy is something you should always do. It doesn't matter age. My advice would be to push yourself, even though its hard and not fun. It takes about 21 days to make a habit. :P AND I KNOW ITS HARD!! Maybe just try taking a bike ride each day -- or do an online workout program like Walk the Walk. :D You can do it!
