boxed blueberry pancakes // camping 2K16

July 5, 2016
When I usually eat pancakes, they are homemade. *squeaky rewind music like on a VHS* let's be honest here, I can't cook pancakes. Waffles, yes. Bagels, yes, English muffins, yup. BUT I CANT MAKE PANCAKES. I usually ask Sarah to make them, because they turn out perfectly round and golden *moans* SOMEHOW.

BUT WHEN CAMPING, you must adapt. Roughing it...with boxed pancake mix. *cringes* They looked good, they even smelled okayish, but um. THEY WERE SO SWEET (and yes, I finished my no sugar thing. Starting two weeks today). I didn't really care though, cooking over an open flame was just so STINKING cool.

I could have sat there for most of the day flipping those pancakes - well maybe.

Annnnndd, no, this camping trip wasn't pre-planned at all. Legit decided upon the evening before. *fist bump* Highlights you ask?? Walking under the stars at 11:45 p.m for one last *chuckles* restroom break for the night about 1/2 mile away. I'm serious!! <3

oh, and I caught 4 fish *grin*

Do you like homemade or boxed pancakes?
What did you do for July 4th??

  1. Homemade pancakes are much better, in my opinion. =)
Your camping trip sounds like fun! Last time I went camping it was on a beach, so I caught 6 fish. I probably was just lucky. xD

  2. We make homemade chocolate chip pancakes every Sunday morning for brunch. *scratches head* I don't know that I've ever had boxed pancakes. I am not good at making waffles, so kudos to you!

  5. A spontaneous camping trip and blueberry pancakes? That sounds epic! I would say homemade pancakes are the best...they have more heart in them, more soul. :) And walking under the stars late at night sounds like the most fun!

(I MEAN, NOT LIKE I'VE GONE RECENTLY OR ANYTHING *groan*) It's such an incredible experience, and being out in the wild and idk JUST EVERYTHING IS SO PERFECT <3 But my family isn't really camping/outdoorsy type AT ALL. LIKE AT ALL. Soooooo....yeah.

ALSO HOMEMADE PANCAKES!! SO yummy. I think I've tried the boxed kind a few times, but they weren't as good as homemade. ♥

awww.. too bad! My dad used to be an Eagle Scout -- so yeah.

YES HOMEMADE ALWAYS BEATS STORE BOUGHT. Unless it donuts. Or ice cream. OR CHIPS YOU CANT BEAT STORE BOUGHT CHIPS. xD

  11. Sounds awesome! I love making homemade pancakes, but we don't have them very often.
It's funny how after a couple of weeks of being sugar free everything tastes three times sweeter, isn't it? I've been sugar free for around two or three years and my tastes have completely changed.

    1. You should make them as a surprise or something! I actually hate making them :P THEY ARE JUST SO HARD TO GET ROUND -- waffles are waaay easier ;)
You've been doing it for 3 years - with no break?!!?! GO YOU SOPHIE!! THATS LIKE WAY LONGER THAN ME!! And yes, my taste buds have changed majorly too!

    2. Hahaha, I'm not too picky about the shape of my pancakes anymore. But there are tricks to making them round.
Hahaha! I think we decided to go sugar free on my twelfth birthday. Three years is a long time, I hadn't even realized I'd been doing it so long until I left that comment.
It helps that my whole family is sugar free. We're not crazy about how much sugar we eat. Like we'll eat it if we go somewhere and that's what's on offer. But we don't cook with sugar anymore. Believe it or not, all the recipes I post are sugar free. I've gotten used to editing recipes which use sugar for my own needs.
