cup towers // im serious about not growing up

August 10, 2016
I just do a lot of things that make me look like a little kid -- like a lot okay??

Like running -- full fledged running and dodging book shelves  -- around our library with a nerf gun in hand and a fist full of ammo in the other. (head on over to Sarah's post to hear more about THAT)

Or swinging on the swings with your twin (yeah, I found my long lost twin #bestiesforlife) and then racing to the tire swings and feeling sick after the many spins. hahaaaa

And building towers with your siblings out of cups. I've been watching my siblings play with these red cups for a few days now and finally decided to sit down with them.

Apparently, they've got the rules all set up. You've each got an equal amount of cups (I got 11 the first time and 20 by the end...the kids got bored..lol) and you each build a tower. Whoever builds the tallest and holds a book on the top for 10 seconds, wins!!

my siblings are all so competitive. like all of us *laughs because its so much more fun that way*

yeah, okay, I'll be honest here, it took me a loooongg while to get mine to even hold the book. Sarah said was making a baby pout-y face. *rolls eyes* I'm starting to see why people think Sarah is older than me and are astonished to find I'm nearly 17.

whatevs peeps. I'm off to Neverland *waves*

so, when do you plan on growing up??
ever build a cup tower?

  1. UMMM JULIA.. WHAT IS THIS CUP TOWER TALK? I never did this as a kid and I am upset I missed out, I might have to go fine me some red cups very very very soon.

I feel like I do the same kind of things. I have a sister who's 14 so I often get pinned for being 16ish since I hang around her so much! LETS NOT GROW UP. Because I am not okay with it.

  4. I think I reached the borders of childhood and left it, which is sad, cause I am too scared to grow up and face life and adulthood.
After that heartbreaking sentence, we actually have a game called Speed Stacks where you time to see how fast you can make a cup tower, and then tear it down!

  5. Actually, you told me how old you were when we first swapped facts on KBR, but somehow over the past year, as I've continued reading your blog and relating more and more to your comments on life, I was shocked just now to be reminded I'm actually two years older than you. Ha!

    1. Yeah, I did! I forgot about that. :P hahaahaaa!!! You thought I was close to your age?? Weiiirrd! I thought (especially in blogposts) I seem very immature xD That's so funny tho

    2. Did I say I thought I was mature ;)? Haha! I've told several people lately, "I feel younger and more inexperienced and incapable than I did at 14." And I'll be 19 in less than a month. ::Gulp:: I'm not ready for adulthood, and yet, I'm technically there :P.

  6. OK I THINK I'LL GO DO THIS. How has this not been part of my childhood? My childhood mostly was using those connect stick thingys. Like they basically summed it up. Also blocks and building highways across the living room. Right.

bro, the little kid in all of us has to shine. growing up is great..but don't give childhood up :) I have a friend who's married now, but when she turned 19 or 20...idk maybe it was even 18 she went and cartwheeled across the field because "she isn't all grown up." that's what she said anyway :)

    1. YES DO IT WILL BE FUN I PROMISE. Hahaa I DUNNO. ooohhhh, yyyeeeah, I used those too. xD I LOVED MY TRAIN SET THO. I got it when I was like 5. it was THE best. <3 <3

wooah, that's so crazy. Alright, I got together with my friend the other day with Bree and we were all on the swings and I said something about never growing up. She replied that just cause she was on the swing doesn't mean she isn't grown up and I said

"Well, it means you aren't fully grown up. There's a part of you that will always stay little, so you can never grow up completely."

she was like aahhh yeah. lol

  8. I totally get your feelings about not growing up - I'm the same. And people often think I'm younger than my age too. :P Maybe we just have a false idea of what it means to grow up..

It looks like you had fun, anyway. :)

    1. I know right?? It really doesn't bother me now. I'm starting to embrace that and be like DUDE I AM NEVER GROWING UP. I think we do -- its just this false cover up. Honestly, grown ups are all stressed.. like NO THANKS (tho that doesn't mean I don't plan on doing things lol)

      we did!! <3

  9. I am afraid that I already am growing up, but I find that we get to keep a little bit of childhood every step we take. The moments of childhood equip us to grow us, they aren't meant to stay the way that they are forever, rather they get stweeter with age.

So here's to living in adulthood with the wonder and gifts of childhood in both hands.

    1. wow, huh, I had never thought of it like that!! I'm afraid that I will end up growing up and doing more and more "grown up" things, but I will always be eager to sit down and build cup towers. xD

  10. Being a kid is the best! I totally want to go build a cup tower now though. Plus your rules are amazing. I'll have to try them out.
