soooo tell me IS IT DONUT OR DOUGHNUT ?? // I THINK I AM OBSESSED WITH POSTING SKY PICTURES HEHEE also summer

August 14, 2017

I was looking through my phone notes and there was legit this ;

I burst out laughing and then was like "okay this actually deserves to be a post " so here we are. so like WHAT IS IT?! Generally, there are two different ways of spelling favorite or favourite or grey vs gray or neighbor or neighbour but these are like bc of the British or Canadian English versions.

Donut or Doughnut? Nope. They are just...well...two ways of spelling the same word everywhere. They both are even considered incorrect by spellcheck. It's quite literally a word which you get to D E C I D E  how you want to spell it *grins*

also I guess there is a lot of disruption over which way it should be spelled so lets not do that but legit just say how you generally write it XD I can't even remember how I do.... I'm normally a doughnut person tho?? WHICH I AM VERY PROUD TO SAY IS ACTUALLY HOW IT IS TRADITIONALLY DONE HEHEHEE just ask google.

RANDOM DONUT FACTS *julia spells it the opposite way just to be kind*

  • julia had a doughnut today (k so that's not really an important fact. roll with it)
  • the largest donut ever made was an american made jelly donut weighing 1.7 TONS. it was 16 feet in diameter and 16 inches high in the center. OH MY GOODNESS RIGHT
  • canada has more doughnut shops than any other country (sarah said we should move there)
  • June 1st of 2018 will be national doughnut day PREPARE YOURSELF
  • there are real taco, grilled cheese, and seaweed donuts.
  • you would need 253,440 doughnuts on a string to reach across the grand canyon
  • and only 3,660 to reach the top of the statue of liberty
  • there is something called a cronut which is basically a croissant-doughnut. well. it has 1,330 calories in one. an adult should only eat about 2,400 in a day......................
  • people say that bakeries are never robbed bc the police officers hang around so often
  • Entenmann’s bakery turns out 100,000 doughnuts every hour, 15 million every week, 780 million every year

I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to walk around now after finding these facts out. WHO KNEW DONUTS COULD BE SO WEIRD?!?!? I mean. gosh. but let's admit it. they. are. so. good. *moans cuz i want more*

so yesterday marked 1 entire year of my poetry blog's existence. THAT MEANS ITS BASICALLY A BIRTHDAY PARTY SO *gives everyone doughnuts* also yesterday I posted my 1 0 0 T H  POEM NOT EVEN JOKING. can I say I'm proud of myself? I mean...yeah that's vainly weird but it's also honest. I didn't really ever think of myself as a poet and now I'm slightly unable to stop?? SO YES VOLUME 2 OF MY POEMS ARE IN PROGRESS EEEP.

also idk what my obsession with sky photos is. sorry... guess you're stuck with them.

p.s. i wrote this post at midnight sunday night....then scheduled it for 6 am the next day. WELL GOSH OH GOLLY JULIA IS DUMB BC SHE FORGOT THAT WHEN MIDNIGHT HAPPENS A NEW DAY DOES TOO. so here i am, posting this after working all morning. you're welcome

SO HOW DO YOU SPELL DO(UGH)NUT??
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE KIND?

  1. I HAD THIS CONVERSATION WITH FRIENDS OVER THE SUMMER!!! I spell it "doughnut" because it sounds more dignified-- like I know we pronounce "donut" as "dough-nut" but it also seems like that spelling can make it seem like "doo-naught."

But like another thought provoking question: where did the name come from? Yes, it is made with dough, but where does the nut come from? Is it the hole? Did the hole come first or the dough?

So many thought provoking questions "sprinkling" themselves along today's musings. (Get it? xP)

P.S. YO I'm doing the blogger yearbook again here & I also have a section for published authors to advertise their books so like if you want more exposure for your poetry book, well.... ^.^

  3. Well, usually I'm the person who spells ya know 'grey' and such, but in this context I have to say I've just never really considered spelling 'donut' differently. Probably because I don't write it often. *listens to you gasp* But I think I will definitely start spelling it 'doughnut' now. ;D
And my favorite kind (darn spellcheck it won't let me spell 'favorite' the way I've always wanted to) is probably a cinnamon twist or Boston-cream doughnut. (Mwahahaa, I love spelling it that way!!!)

  4. Oh, I had this dilemma recently too! I was looking for doughnut recipes and realized I wasn't sure how to spell it. I think I'll stick with 'doughnut' because it looks more proper, traditional, and British, even if it's not, haha. Have you ever made doughnuts?

    1. Really! Isn't it quite funny? And, actually, you are right! That's what I think anyways.. and YES! My mom has made them loads of times! I have actually only helped her actually...now that I think about it. I really don't like frying foods. BUT I've made waffle doughnuts hehe! THOSE ARE GOOD

  6. I spell it doughnut. AND ALSO there's a very strange thing I discovered a while ago. You eat doughnuts for breakfast??? *blinks* EXCUSE ME BUT THAT'S WEIRD. In Australia doughnuts are a very rare occasion and for morning or afternoon tea. No breakfasts.

And personally I only like cinnamon doughnuts because eck. I don't like any others.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA'S BLOOOOOOG. *throws confetti*

  9. I've noticed that too! If I'm feeling like an English teacher for the day, I'll spell it doughnut, but if I can't be bothered to type 3 EXTRA LETTERS I just spell donut. :P

My favourite donut fact was the "people say that bakeries are never robbed bc the police officers hang around so often." XD

Congrats on the hundred poems! :D

    1. Haha!! I wonder why everyone feels like doughnut it so more dignified?? I'm not really sure if I think so? BUT DUDE IKR I DONT HAVE THE TIME FOR THOSE 3 EXTRA LETTERS

  12. OKAY BUT NOW I AM STARVING FOR DOUGHNUTS. <-- I honestly don't know which way I spell it but I think I'd like to favor the traditional way because it sounds fancy. XD

We should dedicate our posts to doughnuts more often because THEY DESERVE THIS RECOGNITION. I love strawberry frosted doughnuts and just the classic glaze. #yum But there are sadly no good places to get doughnuts around here. *cries for dayz*

    Those facts tho.

I think I spell it donut? but I'll write it as doughnut if I want it to be aesthetic? (also spell check thinks donut is the correct version so)

  16. I LOVE doughnuts (that is how i like to spell it most of the time). Sadly I have not had one in a while *cries*. Those facts about donuts were cool (including the fact that you ate a doughnut that day- I actually really like hearing about what people eat for some weird reason??)!
My favorite kind of donut (whoops there I go spelling it the way I prefer not to. but i guess its quicker.) is a fat-fried chocolate frosted donut. Though my mom makes these WONDERFUL pumpkin cake donuts covered in cinnamon and sugar. Most donuts are considered DELISH by me. Except I don't like any kinds with fruit or cream filling. I say nooo to them.
    Anyways.
Thanks for giving me an excuse to talk about donuts, and congrats on your new poetry-book-in-progress!! (and btw i love photos of the sky)

  18. Doughnut... *hopes nobody is too offended*
My favorite? *laughs and chokes because it's so lame...*
    Old-fashioned, sugar-glazed. Nothing else.
I mean, I can enjoy a chocolate topped one, or even maple, ooooh, or a strawberry filled one, but nothing is as good as sugar-glazed. *rolls eyes and rubs stomach*
Incidentally, I am DYING for a chocolate chip truffle...Anyone else?
