WHY DON'T WE ASK PEOPLE TO FILL OUT SURVEYS ON OUR PERSONALITIES ??? // [series] EXPAND + GROW

| WHY DON'T WE ASK PEOPLE TO FILL OUT SURVEYS ON OUR PERSONALITIES ??? |
this thought came to me out of the blue so randomly that even I was like
JULIA THAT'S A SCARY THING TO EVEN WRITE DOWN.

bc. uhm. like. criticism is hard enough to take, but legit making a form + having people fill it out??

FREAKY RIGHT.

it's kinda like that thought of "man I wish I knew what that person was thinking right now." weeelll yeah, tbh, I don't think we have a clue of what we would be in for if that was even a thing. it would be terrifying.

I can tell who is coming upstairs in my house by the sound/heaviness of someone's footstep. I know who doesn't like ketchup and who always forgets to close that kitchen cabinet. When a holiday or birthday rolls around, it is actually really easy to pick out a gift (k cuz I generally do gag gifts tbh hehehe)
but this is all bc I've spent time around my family and know them. like I could take a personality test for sarah and it would come out the same as what she did for herself. note: LEGIT WE'VE TRIED THIS AND IT WORKED LOL

let's face it. we all need anonymous criticism charts for ourselves. kinda like a thing that you pass out to your co-workers and siblings, parents, grandparents, lady at the post office, dude at the coffee shop, kid at the dentist...bc I would be super curious to see what people would say.

"she's a scrooge."
"she talks too much"
"WHAT DID SHE DO TO HER HAIR?!"
"i guess she makes ok cookies."

like it would be fascinating and utterly freaky to know.

I've read the Little House on the Prairie for like...well for like forever. I always thought it was the cutest thing when Laura talked about their autograph books and calling cards. Not just bc they had cool things even back then (*coughcough* i.e. aesthetic, hashtags, photo editing, plaid...) but also bc in those autograph books they had their school friends write notes for each other. And, they had those written down forever.

personally, a good compliment could make me climb mount everest. but then again, a "this is stupid" can totally bring me down. I knew having people alpha read my book would be hardest for me in that area. It proved to be so. but still, I NEEDED THOSE CRITICS. I ASKED FOR THEM. I WILL GROW BC OF THEM. (even if it kills me lol)

so WHY DON'T WE ASK PEOPLE TO FILL OUT SURVEYS ON OUR PERSONALITIES ???
idk.
we are scared. we think people will just lie anyways. nobody has ever thought of it? to me, those are all true. But then again, maybe we should just get over the frivolous fear of having our bubble of "I'm not too bad" broken so we can grow a little. i don't think that's a half-bad thing.

this post is very much in the spirit of the upcoming new year and it's ALSO THE FIRST IN A NEW SERIES ---

EXPAND + GROW

[it's going to be all about personal growth and strengthening in God + things we need to learn how to do, to accept, and to in the end, fly. (cheesy maybe? but truthful yes.) it won't be a specific in order series, but there will be some interesting ones, I promise you ]

WELL THIS POST IS LONG ENOUGH I THINK LOL I should go...I have a few books I want to read. also its 51 degrees on the 2nd day of December EEP SO MUCH WARMTH XD

WOULD YOU HAVE SOMEONE FILL OUT A PERSONALITY SURVEY ON YOU?
THOUGHTS ON THE NEW SERIES??

  1. I have honestly and genuinely wanted people to do this for me for a couple years now... except there isn't one that exists, and I only know people who would put only nice things or only jokes, so I don't think it would end up very accurate, hahaha! I'd love to know the "little things" people notice about me. For instance, when I think of you, even though I only know you through your blog, the things that stand out most to me about you are...
You have so much stinkin' enthusiasm about EVERYthing you do, girl. Where do you get it all?!?!?! I think this really helps with your writing; that enthusiasm comes out easily in your writing, and makes us FEEL the emotion... hence, your monthly wrap ups are the funniest ever.
You seem like the perfect contradiction of total chill and total adventurous when you are hanging out with your little sibs, I can't imagine how much that means to them! (And how confusing it must be to some people, hahaha!)
YOU AND SARAH, THAT RELATIONSHIP IS ONE OF THE BEST, like Julia, you girls are the funniest duo.
And for better or worse, you never. slow. down. Painting your room? Ripping up floors? Gardening and working in a library? Taking your sisters out for birthday fun and writing poems at midnight? You earn your sleep, girl.
And you have such a passion to change the world. I think maybe you don't feel like you are able to do that enough; but I think that you do more than you realize, and it's really neat!
Also. Sarcasm and bluntness, but not in a bad way ;).

I know you weren't, but thought you deserved it! YOU'RE WELCOME BRO (side note: so many times people mistype my name as Bro that I automatically changed it that to Bri when I read it ;).)

  4. That is such a good idea! Ha ha, would definitely be worth the read to see what people think of you.
Question: How do you get GIF's to work on your blog? I've tried many CSS codes and haven't been able to find one that works. Thanks!

    1. lol thanks! and IKR!??! like I feel like we could actually benefit from a little truth! :P
ahhh - so what I do is just treat them as if they're photos. Save them from online on my computer, then load them into blogger just as an image. Hope that helps!!

    2. Ahh ok... I'll have to try that sometime! I'll let you know if it works. If so, I'll give you the credit!

  5. More sky pictures. XD

Yes, that would be interesting... although I have no idea how you would ever do it. I guess you could do it if you were having a huuuge birthday party and asked everyone to fill it out anonymously and be totally honest, haha. XD

A Yes! to both those questions. *grins*

  6. Ok literally I've one hundred percent thought this before! It's probably because we're just to scared of getting an answer we don't like. I would probably do it but would be scared the whole time as I basically live on compliments. :)

  7. This was such an insightful post!! I agree, and I'm just as scared as everyone else. I love taking quizzes about myself, and so does my sister. It's for fun and kind of a joke because of COURSE a computer-designed-techno-thingie canNOT tell me who I am, and I wouldn't let it even if it tried! One of the reasons why I think we has humans like to take quizzes about ourselves is that we're so caught up in our own head. It doesn't seam like that from the outside, but on the inside -- yes.
And I'm super pumped about this new series!! I can't wait!!! *bring on the awesomeness*

    1. aw *hugs* thanks Amelia! hahahaa i know, though I do like the MBTI personality quizzes. I obv don't think OH MAN THIS IS WHO I AM AND WHO I HAVE TO BE but it's really fun to be like OH WOW TRUTH. plus, it helps you learn more about other people. and dude. I know right we are so self centered BLAH

eeeeeppppp thx! ME TOO XD XD

  8. Ack yes. I would totally want to know what other /random/ people thought of me. Because, like...I don't know what they see me as?? It would be interesting, terrifying, and cool all at once. XD

A while back my sisters and I all did the MBTI thing and then we all took turns in doing it on each other and got it almost exactly the same. XP

  10. I'm excited for the series. That's exactly the type of thing I like, but you probably already knew that. :) And wow, this post. That's a good question - and you're right. I am afraid people would say some hard things to hear if they were honest. But it could be a good experience, and super interesting to know what other people actually think. You have brilliantly original ideas. xx
