Christmas is broken - help // ONLY 9 MORE DAYS

December 15, 2016
help.

Christmas is in 9 days and even tho I have like every Christmas gift done, presents shipped to my long distance friends, have been listening to Christmas classics since October and am watching all the movies that involve Santa Claus on Netflix (thank my little sibs for this one) PLUS I EVEN HAVE SNOW

but im not unable to sleep at the thought of Christmas eve coming..

Christmas is broken. I broke it. what happened?

*doesn't want to hear that i grew up*  *folds arm in defiance* No. It's not that. It can't be that. Because, once Christmas Eve DOES come, I'm just as excited as all my little siblings are. They even come in my room early the next morning, cuz I'm awake too - waiting.

BUT WHY AM I NOT EXCITED NOW. ???????????

Last night I begged the girls to watched a cheesy, oldie Christmas movie, so we did. After the movie was done, I was left with the realization that I still didn't feel Christmas-y. Guys, it hit whapped me - FINALLY LIKE IT TOOK ME LONG ENOUGH - but really, it hit me.

I didn't break Christmas. It's still the same.

I was wanting the feeling of childhood Christmas, which is such a fleeting feeling. I just needed to fix my eyes on Jesus. that's the everlasting "feeling". also AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO STRUGGLES WITH CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS FOR YOUR GRANDPA pinterest saved my neck this year *laughs cuz not really but you know*

>>>>>> go here to see how to make your home smell like christmas <<<<<<<
look down for Christmas gift ideas for your grandpa xD

do you feel like I do??
what are you giving your grandpa for Christmas?

  7. Hmmm, that's tough. But you totally got the truth into your head, fix your eyes on Jesus. I'm not sure, I've always appreciated Christmas like crazy. Something maybe to think about is every time you think about Christmas, think about the word 'Christ' that is in it. :)

  8. Great photos!! Very festive. <3
I definitely agree that as you get to a certain age, Christmas isn't quite as "exciting" in a way anymore. But we have to remember that it's usually the presents that make up appreciate Christmas so much when we are younger. All of the festivity and suspense. When we're older, we can turn to the real meaning of the holiday and celebrate Jesus's birth! I don't think it's that you aren't excited about Christmas exactly, but that the meaning might have just changed for you and your brain is trying to puzzle out what it means to you now. I think you're right, you just want to have Christmas feel that same as it did when you were a child. :)
    Good post! <3

  13. Girl, I feel ya. I've been contemplating how the "Christmas spirit" is really the spirit of Christ. I feel you in wanting to recreate the childhood Christmas experience, but it will never be quite the same, will it? What I've been loving about Christmas, though, is how Jesus keeps showing me more and more about Him each Christmas. This Christmas I'm in awe of how we just have to /receive/ His gifts. Maybe that's the distinction between a child's Christmas and a young adult's Christmas. Children don't try to buy, create, or force Christmas. They just receive it. I quote my upcoming blog post when I say, "Maybe it's time that we receive the Spirit of Christ like little children."

    Great post and pictures!

You've just said exactly how I've been feeling. I kind of want the old kid feeling back, but Christmas is more than just presents now. I still love Christmas. Probably even more than before because I understand it better. But still, I can't help remembering the feeling I used the get. Being unable to sleep on Christmas Eve because I was so excited. Constantly begging to do everything Christmas-sy all at once. I guess it's just part of growing up.

  17. I'm so glad you wrote a post on this, because I feel the exact same so often now. A lot of things have changed and happened throughout the years, but it still feels wrong for me not to feel all Christmasy every year. Then Christmas comes and it's good, and I feel so guilty about not feeling all jolly before hand. Please send me some Christmas spirit if you have any the share, thank you xD
