how i budget time // THINGS IVE LEARNED AS A SENIOR

November 11, 2016
btw, this is so going to fill up. haha just wanted you to see what it looks clean
basically, you're only a senior in highschool once - right?! (or at least you had better be....) so a bunch of us senior bloggers got this idea together..to share what we've been learning this year. *ques dramatic music*

- That being a bed head is okay -- like legit, sometimes, you don't have time to deal with the mess xD

- Your closest friends matter the most. You know who those are when you're able to call them at midnight and they answer. When you can text and get a reply immediately. The person you can complain with and then leave feeling inspired cuz they said that one thing that made you think.

- You've got to budget your time. It's hard to juggle the mess of that history report that is due, that book that you're supposed to be reading (but are only one chapter into...), the blogging, the family, the social media, etc into 24 hours! It usually leads to you feeling stressed.

But, think.

How much time did you spend on Pinterest earlier? It can be called your "deserved down time" but, truly, was a whole hour needed? *glares at myself*

That's when budgeting your time comes into play. It's not easy, but it's oh so valuable.

So, would you like to know how I budget my time? *waits for answer* *goes ahead anyways*

Since January 1st of 2016, I have been keeping a monthly planner. I make the calendar at the end of each month, including an a page or two just for blogging records. There, I keep how many comments, views, and followers I've gotten in that month. I also write down my blogpost which were published.

Just having that one thing (blogging) kept on track, is a huge deal for me. I also plan out my schoolwork each week, what I have to accomplish on a daily basis, etc. It changes each day obviously as each day is different. But, having a sound idea of what I should accomplish puts me into "get it done" mode.

what type of planning do you do?
what's your biggest time killer??

  1. All the media is my biggest time killer, probably. :p Even blogging. I'm definitely a list person though, so if I can check stuff off through out the day, I do pretty well! ;)

    1. I think I would agree, but only on some days. If anything, it's more chatting with my friends that gets me haha! Lists work well for me as well, but only randomly..like on a day to day basis, they stress me out bc I usually have a thing or two leftover from yesterday. lol!

  4. Ooh, that is awesome, Julia! I've been interested in Bullet Journalling, and I think I'd like to try it out for 2017. I'd like to set myself certain blogging days, because I'm on the blogosphere WAYYY too much, lol. I just have soo much on my plate like agh...dance, blogging, writing, life, etc. etc. etc. Ahem. Sorry for my little rant, lol. XD
Do you have any tips for planning and figuring out schedules? I need all the help I can get, lol. XD
Thanks, Julia! And sorry my comment turned out to be like me complaining and asking for help, lol. Seriously tho, your planner is AWWWSOME. Go you! :D

    1. Oh I really wanna bullet journal too!! Maybe someday. I kinda feel like this is a variation of keeping a bullet journal tho. Oh goodness, I know what that is like!! And then add the stress of holidays in there now. lol
Basically, don't be afraid to have one not work out for you. It took my a few trial and errors to find out what works... The biggest thing I've learned tho is, DO NOT CLOSE YOUR PLANNER. It will be shoved around, things piled on top -- just llleeeeavvvee it open and in VIEW. Otherwise...haha yeah, I would have forgotten it months ago. O.o
(btw, I do the same thing with my Bible, if I close it, it get's stuffed under books and clothes...so I haven't closed it in a long while now)
aww no way! I love this kind of stuff xD My favorite thing about the comment form is that it is a personable side of my blogpost - often I leave things out waiting for people to ask me questions!! EEP thanks <33 *hugs*

The best, the most amazing, most inspiring, sister and friend someone could ever have<3 Love you! Have an amazing senior year!

  6. This has been my last year at high school and learning to use my time more wisely was a life saver! I got so much done, because I stopped thinking that I didn't have enough time to do everything, and started using every minute I had :)

    1. Oh my gosh, EXACTLY!!! The thought process of "I don't have time to do this, and this, and this, AND THIS." kiilllllss. But if you're like "Okay, need to get this done." and then do the next thing and onward..it works!

  7. This was such an interesting and relatable post! I've just started my next level in education and trying to manage time after a long summer break is not an easy task. I also waste farrrr too much time on Pinterest...
I find that I keep best organised with my planner, which I write all my homework in, and a calendar which I add to throughout the month.
    Loved reading! <3

    1. oh thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Oh I KNOW, I had a long summer off as well. I filled it well though, I feel. I did a lot of cool projects that expanded my skill area, as well as my knowledge, which I value. haha ikr?!?
That's so smart! I think I should try keeping EVERYTHING in one spot, instead of doing two or three planners.
      thanks for the comment! <3

  8. Great tips, girlie!! Having a monthly/daily blogging calendar is a good idea! And I don't plan out my school perfectly each week, cuz it takes longer or shorter amounts of time for the different days, but... XD Having something planned definitely helps!

AND THIS: "basically, you're only a senior in highschool once - right?! (or at least you had better be....)" AHAHA. I sure hope so... XD ;)

    1. And it works! Which, I feel is super important. But, that fact that it works for what I do, is even more important. It's different for everyone. xD

LOL!!! I was reading over my post and added that last part bc I literally was like "OH MY WORD THIS IS TOO FUNNY TO NOT ADD"

  9. I typically don't plan, I just roll with whatever happens during the day XD. But then again, I'm not a senior yet, so things aren't as wild for me *nodnod*
My biggest time killer is the INTERNET. Basically :D. Oh - and (right now, anyways) all the NaNo things. SO MUCH DISTRACTION XD.

  10. This is really cool! It reminds me of a bit of a less stressful bullet journal. I really like it! I've been meaning to start a notebook to track blog stats. Let's be honest, I have about a million different journals I want to start. I just have to actually START them!!
