With the Christmas and New Year holiday fun gone, it's time to get back to school! How has that been for you? I started on Monday, so I've been slowly getting back into it. I was surprised by how much I actually missed it during the Christmas break. I was longing to something other than the Christmas break norm of reading, chatting with friends, and looking at blogs. Seriously, my poor friends and I were running out of things to talk about! I was counting down the days to start my history course, get back to my ASL, and Algebra. I couldn't wait to learn!
But, then it hit me.
I felt empty. School had taken over my life. It was my goal. It was my every thought. What do I have to do next? What should I study for? Oh dear! I should do more Algebra. Look at the time...I still haven't done my American Sign Language yet.
I would get soooooo stressed out about it.
Because I forced myself into thinking school was everything.
I forgot something really important.
Reading my Bible.
Talking to God.
Praying.
And, most importantly, being like Jesus.
I became grumpy and stressed. Making my needs important. My grades. How much school I got done. I seriously forgot that Jesus loved me even if I was behind in algebra a bit. I didn't have time to read the Bible...but Jesus had time to speak those words for us to read.
It isn't about me. It is about Him!
I learned more than I thought I did over Christmas break. A lesson worth learning! Thank you Lord for teaching me. I wonder what my next lesson will be? :)
What about you? What has God been teaching you? Do you get caught up in life and forget about after this life sometimes?
We've all gone through times like this-it's so easy to fall into this trap.
ReplyDeleteI've started school again too- I'm trying to ease myself back into it. Especially getting up so early. ;)
Have a blessed day!

Thanks for your encouraging comment, Grace! :) How are your studies going? I was expecting my algebra to be a lot harder after being away from it for a while. Thankfully, I was wrong! Haha, I don't like getting up early either. :D
DeleteGetting back in the rountine of things was actually fairly easy. (School is cancelled for today- so that gives me some more time to catch up!)
DeleteI really don't like Algebra- I don't why but I've never liked math! Maybe I'm crazy, but it's never been a favorite....:) I love reading and history, (I also adore my teacher and class for those subjects-which is partially why I love them so much!) and it was really fun to get back to those!
Have a wonderful day!

Oh awesome! I had a day off yesterday since I had to go to the doctors. Algebra can be hard..but I try not to think about and just get it done. Sometimes, you have to do that with certain things your don't like...you know, like washing dishes or something. :) I love reading and history too! I am actually basically doing all history right now, which is pretty awesome. :) But then..in a month or so, it will be a lot of science. Bleck. :P haha! Do you have a lot of snow?
DeleteWe've had a little bit of snow, nothing major. We had a lot of snow in November!
DeleteWe did too, but we are going to get 6 inches of snow today on top of the 3 that we already have. :P How cold is it for you? -16 is normal over here...
DeleteWow- that's cold! It's a little under 0° over here!
Deletequite true, quite true. God has a wonderful way of showing us things... Oh, and did my comment on your last post go through? Like not the first one, but the second one? I dunno.... Anyways, those do sound like fun courses and classes... Well, as fun as school is I guess. Surprisingly. the week going back to school hasn't been too bad. Praise God for that :)
ReplyDeleteYes, He does! And usually...I take forever to see it. :P I have two comments from your on my last post. I published them both..did you try and do another, but it didn't go through? Those are the only ones I got..so. :P Yes! School can be quite fun, if you want it to be that way. :) I am sooo glad school is going well for you! I pray it will continue to. :) What are your plans for this weekend?
DeleteGreat post, Julia! I'm already done with school but I continue to learn everyday. I love it when the Lord shows me new things in His Word. Lately I've been reading a book on the Proverbs 31 woman. It has been so awesome. I hope and pray God will help me be like her both now and in the future when I have my own home and family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. Keep learning and sharing!!
Rebekah
Thank you Rebekah. :) Oh, that book sounds really good! Could you please tell me the author of the book? I would love to get it from my library sometime. Your comment was very encouraging, and I thank you for that. :) Have a blessed rest of your week!
DeleteGreat post, Julia! This is a very good lesson, and a very encouraging post. :-) I do have tendency to get caught up with life sometimes, and not remember to read my Bible, and other things like that. This post was a wonderful reminder. :-)

Thanks Katie! It was a real good eye opener writing the post too. Sometimes your thoughts get all jumbled up in your head, but writing them down can make them so much clearer. :)
DeleteYes, yes, yes! This has been my week for the past several days. I've been so stressed about school too that I can't think straight and calm down, at all. I'm going to try to listen for Him more. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo Morning
Well, I'm glad that I am not the only one who feels this way! :) I hope my blog post was able to encourage you to slow down a bit and enjoy what is going on in your life..and not to forget the God who created you. :)
DeleteVery good post! It was a good reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Maddy! ♥
DeleteBeautiful photos of the snow and good message! I've been studying Ecclesiastes.
ReplyDeleteOh neat! Where are you right now? I am going to try and read the Bible in a year, so I am right now half way through Genesis and a few chapters into Matthew. :)
DeleteI can totally relate! Thanks for the post! And, strangely enough, I've actually been enjoying algebra lately... :P
ReplyDeleteReally? Have any tips for me? ;) I don't mind it, but actually motivating myself to move and get it done can be hard when I'd rather read. ;)
DeleteGreat message, Julia!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D I learned a lot writing it. :) By the way, have you gotten my letter? I forget when I sent it..lol!
DeleteThank you Julia for that gentle reminder. It even happens to those of us in our mid-40s :-) Blessings to you and your family this new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine for your lovely comment! I pray that I will be willing to keep on learning as the years go by. :) To you and your family too! ♥
DeleteAmazing Julia!! I just posted it on my blog and added your button, :) Have a great day!
